BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - STARBUCKS Brunei is now hiring baristas in the capital.
Its recruitment advert has not set a specification that it would only be limited to Bruneians or permanent residents.
The walk-in interviews for Starbucks Brunei baristas started yesterday and would end today, December 21. Interviews are conducted from 10am to 5pm at the Mabohai Shopping Complex.
Starbucks Brunei is owned by Berjaya Food International Sdn Bhd and Deluxe Daily Food.
In a disclosure to the Bursa Malaysia in October this year Berjaya Food Berhad (BFood) announced that its international unit, Berjaya Food (International) Sdn Bhd, signed a joint venture agreement with Deluxe Daily Food for the subscription of an 80 per cent equity interest in Berjaya Food Supreme Sdn Bhd (BFS), a company incorporated in Brunei last September 24 to operate the Starbucks coffee chain in the country.
Berjaya Foods will be paying $2.4 million for the stake in BFS, the company said.
Deluxe, which lists as its directors YAM Pg Muda Abdul Qawi and Ho Lee Suom, will take up the remaining 20 per cent of the company, it added.
The company said its directors believe that the planned expansion of its Starbucks business into Brunei “is in the best interest of the group”.
As of now, the company has yet to announce when the first branches will open. It is also unknown how many baristas Starbucks Brunei is expecting to hire.
