Three in need receive housing aid

THREE elderly Temburong District residents had some of their burdens eased with repairs done to their homes, courtesy of the zakat (tithe) funds collected by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB).
Rokiah Abdullah @ Erok of Kg Selapon, Hjh Minah Bengkulong of Kg Sibulu and Ampuan Saliah Ampuan Daud of Kg Sg Sulok received certificates of the refurbishments to their individual homes yesterday from the Legislative Council member for the district, Yang Berhormat Hj Sulaiman Hj Ahad.
The restoration projects for the homes of the poor and needy was carried out by a committee that involved the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of CultureYouth and Sports.
“This housing refurbishment assistance initiative shows the attentiveness of the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in caring for the well-being and welfare of the sections of society that need help; to give the aid recipients and their families more comfortable and wholesome lives,” the PMO said in a press release.
The certificates were presented in the recipients’ houses and the presentations were witnessed byActing Temburong District Officer Ajmin Hj Meludin, senior officers from the PMO and ministries involved.
