BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - A NON-government organisation has joined hands with online vendors to raise funds for Typhoon Haiyan victims.
Katakijau Humanitarian Relief Support Group is holding a car boot sale at the National Indoor Stadium that started yesterday, and will end tomorrow.
The group’s president, Rozan Hj Kaderi, said most of the 15 participating vendors were online shops that subscribed to its Facebook page, where they received the invitation.
“We have a variety of vendors but some decided to sell ‘back-to-school’ themed (merchandise), aside from that, the whole idea of the sale is to collect the funds to help the victims of the recent typhoon disaster in Philippines,” he told The Brunei Times.
“This is one way that Katakijau can help to create a responsive community that devotes its time for the less fortunate,” the president added.
Some of the online vendors participating in the three-day sale were Brunei Diecast Online Store which sells model cars, and Syween Boutique which sells antique collectables.
Pg Hj Omarali Pg Amat from Brunei Diecast said the car models sold at the car boot sale were some of the collectables its members wished to give away for a good cause.
“It’s better to sell some off to collect the money for the less fortunate, including typhoon victims in Philippines.”
Cousins, Wati and Julie of Delima Kollections and Belhanna Collections, said they are taking the opportunity to bring out the family to help as “it helps the kids to do something during the holidays, but at the end of the day we want them to learn the importance of helping others”.
The president of Katakijau also shared that there will be a colouring contest and mass zumba session on the sidelines of the car boot sale on Sunday afternoon.
All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Humanitarian Fund for Philippines Typhoon Victims.”
