THE Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPUSB) will be hosting the third Regional Usuluddin Education Seminar and is looking for more participants to sign up and join the seminar.
During a press conference held yesterday at the Faculty of Usuluddin and Syariah, the Deputy Dean of the Usuluddin Faculty, Ustazah Norasimah Hj Omar, in her capacity as the deputy chairperson for the upcoming seminar, said that there would be an expected 500 participants joining the seminar themed, ‘Empowering Usuluddin Education: Issues and Current Challenges’.
The seminar, which is being held in conjunction with the third convocation of KUPU SB, is scheduled to run for two days from January 8 - 9 and will see the presentation of two main working papers and several other papers that will revolve around the theme of the seminar.
Participants can expect local and also regional academics to present their working papers regarding Usuluddin education.
The seminar aims to discuss issues and challenges that lie ahead in Usuluddin education, to create a better understanding of the development of syariah education and to better the spiritual aspects towards Usuluddin education.
Other sub-themes up for discussion during the seminar includes the spiritual aspects of Usuluddin education, Usuluddin education as an alternative for modern education, and current issues associated with aqidah, syariah and akhlak amongst others.
The first main paper to be presented is ‘Memperkasa Pendidikan Usuluddin di Indonesia: Isu dan Penyelesaian’ (Empowering Usuluddin Education in Brunei: Issues and Solutions) by the Deputy Rector I at UIN Alauddin in Makassar Indonesia, Professor Dr Hj Ahmad Muhammad Sewang while the second working paper will be, ‘Memperkasa Pendidikan Usuluddin di Negara Brunei Darussalam: Ke Arah Pengintegrasian Kurikulum KUPUSB dan Sekolah Menengah (‘Empowering Usuluddin Education in Brunei Darussalam: Towards the Integration of KUPU SB’s curriculum and Secondary Schools’) by the Acting Deputy Ra’es of KUPUSB, Ustaz Dr Hj Adanan Hj Basar.
Ustazah Norasimah also said that members of the public who are interested in joining the seminar are invited to do so until they reach the target of 500 participants. Those interested can register and make their payment by January 4.
The seminar is also opened to academics from higher level institutions, local and regional Islamic academics, students of higher education and various government and other statutory bodies.
