Woman bashed with brick in random attack

A WOMAN was bashed with a brick in a random attack in southeast Queensland.
Police say the woman, 64, was walking along Smithfield Road, Gatton, about 6.45am (AEST) on Wednesday when she was attacked.
A man walked up behind her and struck her head several times with a brick.
The woman fought off the man and began to walk away.
But he started to attack her again so she yelled for help.
Another man intervened and her attacker ran away.

The attacker is described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance with black, short, curly hair, dark eyes and wearing a yellow water-hydration backpack.
