12 babies born on January 1

THERE were 12 recorded births in Brunei Darussalam on the first day of 2014, while Malaysian state media reported that a baby was born “to a couple from Brunei” in Selangor, Peninsula Malaysia.
The Sultanate’s main hospital – RIPAS – recorded the most births, with eight babies born on New Year’s Day, according to Radio Televisyen Brunei.
The Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Belait District recorded one birth, while there were three births at the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong District. No births were recorded in Temburong District, the RTB reported.
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the first baby of the new year, a boy, was born at the Sungai Buloh Hospital near Kuala Lumpur at 12.08am to a Bruneian couple.
